Taking an Epsom Salt bath can reduce many of these symptoms as it naturally detoxes your body without causing side effects. Magnesium Sulfate is absorbed through the skin and filtered throughout the body providing a healthy and safe cleanse. In the end, many of the toxins in your system are removed and balance is restored.  

Remedy for Dry Skin

If your skin feels close to that of a wool blanket (which provides the same sensation as nails on a chalkboard for me (skin crawls), take an Epsom Salt bath. Magnesium Sulfate naturally restores PH balance and moisture to your skin.  You can also add a few drops of your favorite essential oil as well as a few tablespoons of baking soda. I find Spearmint oil like this one and Lavender to be relaxing and refreshing on the skin.

Taking hot baths without Epsom Salt relieves stress – hot water, dim lights, relaxed muscles, etc. When you add essential oils and Epsom Salt you distress on a completely different level. Stress is a reaction to a specific situation. That’s when the body presents with a Fight or Flight dilemma and releases neurotransmitters (those pesky hormones) into your body. Think of the hormones as your annoying friend who just wants to talk after you’ve had a little too many Margaritas’s (here I go again). You just want to fall asleep, but they keep talking (I’m starting to see why I drive my husband insane). The hormones keep our body in that tense state which causes an after effect of stress – tension, headaches, body aches, sick stomachs, etc. As mentioned, it is naturally detoxifying and facilitates the removal of toxins. Hormones, like other substances, can become toxic or problematic if left in our system.

Is…it…seriously…that…time…again? Sorry, Gentlemen, this may be a little TMI, but could help you better support your other half during her favorite time of the month, negative. As I’ve said, hormones left within the body can be toxic. I’ve personally suffered from an imbalance and have been told, “Live with it” – but living with it isn’t easy. An imbalance for one woman greatly differs from that of another. For me, it can be as silly as staring at my husband longingly for NO good apparent reason (typically this leads to the you look like a serial killer conversation), eating everything in sight then complaining that I haven’t eaten all day, or crying spells, frustration and feeling as if I’m on another planet (I wish I was on another planet during this time, I’m sure my husband feels the same). The week prior I will take 3 Epsom Salt baths leaving a day in between. This has greatly reduced some of  my symptoms and typically I can feel a difference immediately after a bath. I feel less emotional, have a sense of perspective, and have stopped staring at my husband like he’s a piece of cake (so he thinks).

Treat Migraines Naturally


Magnesium Sulfate is an essential mineral we all need. As you’ve read, it has many health benefits from Anxiety to Balancing Hormones. Epsom Salt can also relieve tension headaches or migraines. If you chronically suffer from Migraines have your doctor check your Magnesium level as typically individuals who do suffer from chronic headaches tend to be deficient. Lacking Magnesium causes blood vessels to constrict. 

Epsom Salt Bath Recipe

2 Cups of your favorite Epsom Salt (I love anything by Dr. Teals)

2-3 drops of your favorite essential oil

2 -3 Tablespoons of Baking Soda (optional - helps with dry, scaly skin)

Relax for a minimum of 20 minutes.

**Perspiration on your face, head, and neck is normal. This is your body detoxing. Also, you may experience a rapid heartbeat - that typically occurs if the water is too hot. Remember to drink 8 ounces of water after your bath to restore hydration**
