You’ll want seconds….
If you’re a lover of Asian cuisine, but can’t always order out or dine out, try this simple Crispy Mongolian Beef and Broccoli hack. It is Gluten and Dairy-free without all the additives and preservatives. The best part is it’s simple and quick to make. If you’re looking for a new dish to try with lots of flavor, this is the dish for you.
Gluten and Dairy Free Crispy Mongolian Beef and Broccoli
2 cloves of Garlic OR 1 TBSP pre-chopped
1-2 tsp Ginger paste
1 TBSP Coconut oil (Refined) OR Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/4 cup + 1 TBSP (divided) Arrow Root starch OR your favorite thickener
1 1/2 Lb of your favorite beef (I like thinly sliced steak tips)
1/2 cup of either Gluten Free Soy Sauce OR Coconut Aminos (taste JUST like Soy Sauce, but 100% GF)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2-3 scallions (finely chopped)
1 tsp of Sesame seeds (OPTIONAL)
1 dash of Adobo
1/2 packet of Sazon
1 Package or 2 crowns of Broccoli
1-2 cups of cooked rice (OPTIONAL, for a Low-carb option you can remove it)
Get a baking dish or large bowl and put in the flour. Add in the Adobo and Sazon. Take the beef and dredge it in the flour, shake off, and then put off to the side.
After you’ve taken care of the meat, boil or microwave your broccoli to your liking (I like my semi-crunchy, but not too much that you chip a tooth)
Ginger Garlic sauce Preparation:
(Medium heat) Take your Coconut or Olive oil (or, oil of choice) and heat that up in a large enough plan (I actually use a WOK, but if you don’t have one that’s OK!).
Start to warm up another pan for the meant (low- to medium heat, add the 1 tsp of oil, (If you want to make this a one pan meal you can, I just prefer to cook my meat separately and add it in at the end so it doesn’t boil).
Add in your ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper. Let those saute for a few minutes until it becomes fragrant.
While your sauce is simmering, take that 1 tbsp of flour and add that to about a 1/3 cup of warm water. (Mix this up realllly good, otherwise it will look like lumps of clay - which isn’t appetizing).
Take your flour-water and add that to your sauce - you will see that it will start to bubble and thicken. PUT THE HEAT ON LOW - or, you’ll burn it (eh, em - Yes, I’ve burned it before).
Now, turn up the heat in the pan that you’re cooking the beef in. When you see the oil ripple, it’s ready! Throw in the meat and flash fry it quickly - flipping it until it’s crispy and golden brown on each side.
Remove the meat, drain any additional oil, and quickly add the beef and broccoli to the sauce! VOILA!
If you want, serve it over white or brown rice. (For low carb, eat it as is)!
